Return to Owner

I think about the air that we breathe, who can take ownership of it? It is a gift from God. This thing that we can not produce enough of, yet our existence depends on it. I could not gather up enough of it, because I don’t know my total number of days, and even if I did- how many breathes does a person take in per day. These are things that belong to God, like many things in our lives, including our money. He owns it all. The tithe, the returning of a tenth of your earnings to God by way of the temple, is an act of obedience to a direct instruction.

"10 Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this way,” says the Lord of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure. 11 I will rebuke the devourer[a] for you, so that it will not ruin the produce of your land and your vine in your field will not fail to produce fruit,” says the Lord of Armies. 12 “Then all the nations will consider you fortunate, for you will be a delightful land,” says the Lord of Armies." Malachi 3:10-12

So for him to request that we return a portion of something that He already owns, is just a test of obedience, not of need. Will you obey God’s commands? He’s set it up so that when you do, He can bless you for following His instruction for your life. Don’t we always want to follow this all knowing, all-powerful, everywhere present God? There’s safety, security, and stability in following His lead. Our financial success depends on the ways in which we position ourselves in obedience. Humility and meekness is necessary to enter specific places in God. Here is an area to practice it.

Here is the point. We've established that we want God's blessing and provision for our

lives. We trust Him with our health, our families, our relationships, then why is trusting Him with our money so much more difficult? Shouldn't it be as easy as receiving something that doesn't belong to you, and then returning it; even if that thing is money. My friend, have integrity with your heavenly Father and Return to Owner.
