I Know You're in There

When God knocks on your door, it has a different ring to it. It doesn't sound or feel like the knock of human hands, nor does the product feel like anything a human could ever produce. It's simple, awesome, intricate, and unique. God's ability to knock on the heart and spirit of a man, is beyond anything that can be measured with the human eye, human experience, or human perspective. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He's known for taking the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.

This week I pondered on all the ways that he knocks, I'm sure there are more, but this is what landed.

He knocks in good situations, and in bad. He knocks when life is happening to others near you, but not to you, just close enough for you to observe and empathize. He knocks when things come to an abrupt halt. Or when things are spinning out of control. I have come to realize that He's always there in every situation, doing whatever He can to get our time, longing for our love and devotion, wanting to get the glory from our life's experiences.

How do we respond to his knocking? The unfortunate reality is that most of the time, we don't even hear Him. We continue to trudge along the planned paths we have laid out for ourselves. What if when we heard the knock at the door, we actually got up, walked over, and said "who is it?" In many cases, we never get to the step of inviting Him in, because we haven't even identified who's really knocking. We disqualify the blessing that comes from just being in HIS presence because we won't even take the risk of asking, "who is it?". What a shame for Jesus to have died on the cross for someone who doesn't realize that their current life circumstances could change immediately, if they just invited Him in.

No matter how bad your story may be, the fact remains that He created you in His image and after His likeness; to be like Him. So, if you don't do anything else take the first step to FIND OUT WHO HE IS.
